Fartherside Skipped – This year when people come over the dam and through the second feed zone, they will keep left and follow the gravel road a couple of kilometers to a right-hand turnoff onto the trail leading to ValleyCliffe. Keep right at the end of that trail, over a creek and up the gas line cut to S&M Connector. Ride up S&M connector to S&M extension which takes you to Sweeter the Barry. Turn left onto Sweeter the Barry and climb to a right-hand turn onto Barry-Hairy Connector (a trail that connects Sweeter the Barry to Hairy Bomber) and ride over to turn left onto Hairy Bomber. After that the course is the same as last year, continuing on Ta Miami (AKA Spencer’s Gay Ride) and down the Graduate. The changed course has been flagged.
Recycle Logging – The only other potential trail issue is that ReCycle has been damaged by washout due to logging activity on the hillside above it. The logging company is supposed to fix it, and SORCA has said they will try to get it done before the race, but there is no guarantee. It is closed right now, so people can’t pre-ride it. If it is not fixed by race time, then we will change the course to skip it – after the crossing racers will keep right and go down Pseudo Tsuga rather than climbing up to recycle. When we make the call on that we will send out an email to racers.
RACE START – the race starts just off the bottom of the Alice Lake park road. There is some limited parking under the power line north of the start area, but you’ll have to find your own way back there after the race because we don’t finish there. There is NO PARKING on the park road and you’ll likely be towed. We encourage you to use the shuttles from the race check-in area at the Squamish Adventure Centre.
POWERHOUSE DRINK & FEED STATION ACCESS – spectators and support people will be able to drive into the Powerhouse Feed Station area. Best to drive up the Mamquam FSR.
RACE FINISH – we’ll be finishing up once again in the Rose Park area near the Squamish Adventure Centre. We encourage people to park at the Squamish Elementary School across the highway and on the right just past MacDonalds. It’s an easy walk from there to the finish area and market place.
