Local Test of Metal registration sells out

Dec 03 2009

SQUAMISH – By Test of Metal standards, the pace was almost  leisurely.

The locals-only registration period, which is open to residents living from from Furry Creek to Darcy, closed at 8:59 pm when all 200 reserved spaces were filled, almost three hours after opening.

The Test of Metal continued with the locals-only registration after the success of the past two years.

“It went really smoothly,” said Race Director Cliff Miller. “I think we sold the first 100 spaces in 15 minutes and then the next hundred slowly were filled. Last year was faster, but we didn't really advertise this registration beyond our past riders list and the website. Still, looking at the names there are a number of first-timers, which is always nice to see.”

Local riders who were not successful at this registration period still have the opportunity to register at the general registration on January 1, 2010.

Miller also said that the Test of Metal will continue with its no wait-list policy of last year.

Registrations will only be accepted on-line through the Test of Metal website www.testofmetal.com.
