Orecrusher XC registration opens March 6th

Mar 01 2010

BRACKENDALE, BC - Dust off those winter thighs and get ready for another round of bike races and epic summer riding.  Registration opens March 6, 2010, for the Orecrusher XC - a classic multi-lap mountain bike race through the Cheekeye Fan trails in Brackendale, BC.

This year's race takes place May 15, 2010.

Orecrusher XC is a fundraiser for Don Ross Secondary School's trademark "Outdoor Leadership Program".  The program allows Grade 10 students the opportunity to invest an entire semester learning wilderness skills, outdoor sports, communication and conflict resolution, and other confidence building skills.  There is a cost to the program which makes it inaccessible to some families.

The funds raised through Orecrusher (both through entry fees and sponsorships) offset the costs of the program making it affordable to more students - so long as they meet the academic requirements.  The success of this program relies solely on the hundreds of volunteer hours and fundraising efforts made by teachers and the community.

Orecrusher XC is seeking local business support in the form of both financial sponsorship and in-kind such as prizing for race participants.  Volunteers are also required for set-up and tear-down of the event venue.  Interested individuals and companies can contact Heidi VanLith by emailing heidi@orecrusher.com.

The race is part of the Test of Metal Group of events and is the first in the Hell of a Series "beat you up and spit ya out" multi-race mountain bike event.  Three entries to each of the Hell of a Series events will be drawn at Orecrusher XC.  Participants who register and participate in the Orecrusher XC race, and who are not already registered in any other Hell of a Series events, will be eligible to win complimentary entries.
