Why are you doing the test?
Very much a personal goal/achievement thingie. Missed the cut last year. Extremely thrilled to see the confirmation screen this year. Have been wanting to experience the Test for years.
Have you done the Test before?
Nope.
What did you learn from your last Test experience?
Well from reading I should eat well, pace myself, carry shot blocks, drink often, soak up the atmosphere, go tubeless and have a bloody good time!
What are you looking forward to the most?
Crossing the finish line. But first, making the cut-offs and getting past the race start anxiety.
What are you dreading the most?
Well I hear it's 9mile. I'm also a bit worried about the cut offs and hoping I'm able to carry enough water to keep the cramps down to a dull roar.
What kind of frame do you ride on?
2004 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Anniversary Edition.
Do you have an inspiring rider?
Always rode Stumpy's so I suppose it has to be Mr. Ned. I also like Missy way back cuz she had a whack of originality.
How are you preparing for the Test?
Progressively longer rides. I rode a lot of technical trails when younger and feel that the best training for me is just hours in the saddle.
How will you celebrate afterwards?
A TALL COLD LAGER !! and then another one. Perhaps a quick shower in between if I can move.
