Why are you doing the test?
It's one of the greatest one day mountain bike greatest race on the planet. Cliff and the Test Pilots put on a first class event.
Have you done the Test before?
Yes. ALL of them, I've never missed a Test of Metal race. Including the Brodie Test of Metal races at Alice Lake. I think that's about 14 yrs in a row, but who's counting. :-)
What did you learn from your last Test experience?
Tubeless tires are exceptionally fast. I wish I had them back when I was riding my steel hard tail with 50psi in the tires.
What are you looking forward to the most?
The Power House Feed Zone the FIRST time through. As a rider, the atmosphere is amazing.
What are you dreading the most?
The Power House Feed Zone the SECOND time through. If I'm going to have to battle through some leg cramps this is the spot where I will suffer. Once I'm past the feed zone it's clear sailing to the finish!
What kind of frame do you ride on?
Full Carbon, full XTR, GIANT Anthem Advanced. It's a sweet ride.
Do you have an inspiring rider?
I'm inspired by any rider who is willing to push to the limit. I see many inspirational people at the finish of the TOM every year.
How are you preparing for the Test?
Lot's of Road and XC riding. I will also race in most Road and Mtn Bike events prior to the big day.
How will you celebrate afterwards?
With a few refreshing pints of Ale.
