Cutoffs

There are three spots where you have to be in a certain time or you will be marked Did Not Finish (DNF). The first is the yellow gate just past the Powerhouse Feed Zone 2.5 hours into the race (1:30 pm). The second is 60 minutes later at the top of Bonk Hill. That’s at 3.5 hours into the race (2:30 pm). The final cutoff will be back at the Powerhouse Feed Zone, at 5.5 hours into the race (4:30 pm).

Be Prepared

Everyone needs to bring enough food, tools and liquid to finish the race. That said there are some food and drink stations along the course. As well there are Ambassadors riding the course. These angels of mercy are loaded with tubes, food and tools to help if you get in a pinch.

Spectators

For spectators, there are many options. Without a doubt you have to see the start line. There is no way to describe here the intense energy just before the starter’s pistol and the roar of 1600 tires, and the blur of the colourful jerseys. From there you can head anywhere along the course and be guaranteed to see action. The Powerhouse Party zone is unparalleled viewing as the riders go through twice – the first time most are smiling, the second time the pain and anguish in many eyes is unbelievable. With over 35 kilometers of single-track there are lots of good technical sections to view on Rock and Roll, the Plunge or anywhere you like.

The course is always lined with spectators which is one of the things that make this event so special. The start line provides great viewing opportunities and the finish line has a full marketplace and carnival atmosphere.

Spectator Shuttles

There will be shuttles that can get you from the Start Line (**Tennis Courts lot) to the Powerhouse Feed Zone and back to the Finish Line. Shuttles run as soon as the last rider leaves the start area, from 11:05am to 330 pm. Shuttle rules – no dogs, first come first served, last shuttle leaves the Powerhouse Feed Zone to head to the Finish Line at 330pm. This is before the official time cutoff of 430, but typically most riders are through at this point and we need to relieve our volunteers of their duties in a timely manner.  **At 12 pm the start line shuttle area moves from the Tennis Court lot to the Loggers Sports Finish line at the turn around area.
