News & Updates

When Brodie discontinued with its Test of Metal in 1994, Squamish Off-Road Cycling Association (SORCA) founder and president Cliff Miller and Squamish mountain biking and rock climbing guidebook author and publisher Kevin McLane met in a pub one night and drew out a proposed new Test of Metal race course on the back of a coaster.

Test of Metal 2016

Thank you to all racers, volunteers, the mountain bike community and everybody who came out to support our race for making this final Test of Metal a huge success.

And thank you to all for your attendance and participation not only this year, but over some or all of the 21 years that you’ve been part of making OUR RACES the best mountain bike races in Canada. We are honoured to have received your ongoing and enthusiastic support.

It’s been amazing 21 years of Test of Metal in Squamish and we encourage you to visit often to keep riding the world famous trail network that has been developed here.

Remember, there is one last Test of Metal Group of Events race later this summer. Just Another Bike Race (JABR)  presented by Vocari Financial Solutions Inc., will be the last race ever put on by the Test Of Metal organization and will be a great way to cap off your mountain bike race season. The 45-kilometre JABR course winds its way through some of the best singletrack Squamish has to offer, including trails such as Rupert, Tinder, Your Mom, and Half Nelson. Register here
