When Brodie discontinued with its Test of Metal in 1994, Squamish Off-Road Cycling Association (SORCA) founder and president Cliff Miller and Squamish mountain biking and rock climbing guidebook author and publisher Kevin McLane met in a pub one night and drew out a proposed new Test of Metal race course on the back of a coaster.

ORE CRUSHER – Yes, it is that time of year again!! YAY

I’m Darcy Reimer and I am the Race Director for Ore Crusher.  As always these events could not happen without individuals like yourselves.

This year’s OreCrusher is happening Saturday, April 16.  Below is information regarding an upcoming volunteer’s meeting, how to volunteer, and categories/areas where volunteer’s are needed. We are always in need of people who are willing to lead a category/area, perhaps you would consider leading this year, after all you have the experience!  : )  BELOW are the various categories.

How to volunteer:

You can volunteer a few different ways.  Firstly, by emailing Darcy directly (, secondly, by texting Darcy 604-848-8007 and thirdly, via the Test of Metal website (  Click on ‘Ore Crusher’, then click on ‘volunteers’ on the left-hand side of the page.The website people have assured us that the website will be updated with this option soon!
Categories/areas to volunteer:

Friday night – We will need people Friday night, prior to the race to set up the finish line.

Saturday (race day) – We are in need of

Marshals for Government Road intersection and Race Start
